This will be a three-day class, ranging in time from 1.5-2 hours per day. Each day will feature one of the challenges from the Great Britsh Bake-off. The theme for this class is going to be Biscuit week! Biscuit week entails all different kinds of cookies like shortbreads, or macaroons, or gingersnap cookies. The recipes will be chosen closer to the date of the class.
The first day will be the signature challenge. The kids will all have the same recipe but the recipe will come with a list of variations for your child to choose from so they can make the recipe their own.
The second day will be a technical challenge. Chef Alex will give the kids a recipe with very little instruction and they will have to try to make the recipe with their baking instincts! this will be a recipe that is pretty easy to put together but will require some critical thinking!
The last day will be the showstopper challenge. The kids will be given a recipe or a type of baked good and the kids will have to make something show-stopper-worthy! This could entail a gingerbread house or the first letter of their name made out of shortbread and decorated. This is not going to be a competition but a fun challenge for all the kids to be able to express themselves and get creative and silly with it.
The challenges will be determined by the age range in the class, and the recipes will all be easy to handle. We will also be sending along with a cheat sheet for the parents for the challenges so they can help their kids out if they need some clues, and they are all able to ask Chef Alex for help as well.
This class will be a great way for your kids to be able to learn some new recipes and be able to have fun and challenge themselves.
Tools needed for this class:
whisk, spatula, mixing bowl, rolling pin, cookie cutters(any shape), measuring cups, measuring spoons, cookie sheet, parchment paper
If you have a stand mixer or a kitchen aid that will be useful but if not the recipes can be made without them as well.
